About Markdown Reader
What is Markdown Reader?
Markdown Reader is a free Chrome extension by Twistag that renders a .md file in the browser. There is no paid tier, no trial, and no account.
What Markdown Reader does
Open a local or remote markdown file in a tab and it renders headings, tables, blockquotes, lists, and collapsible sections. Fenced Mermaid blocks render as diagrams, including flowcharts, sequence diagrams, and quadrant charts. LaTeX renders as typeset math. Fenced code is highlighted by language. A toolbar switches among automatic, light, and dark themes, shows the raw source, copies the document, or exports a PDF. The PDF keeps the rendered formatting, diagrams included. The page says every file is parsed and rendered locally, with nothing uploaded and no network calls with the document.
Who Markdown Reader is for
Someone who wants to read a specification, a README, a runbook, or research notes in Chrome without pasting the file into a web tool. Twistag is in Lisbon.
How Markdown Reader works
Install Markdown Reader from the Chrome Web Store. There is no sign-in. Open the file in a tab and it renders with no further setup. The theme control cycles through automatic, light, and dark. Automatic follows the system setting. Copy, raw source, and PDF export are on the toolbar. The page says there is no account, no analytics, and no advertising, and that documents are not transmitted to Twistag or to anyone else.
