Screen To GIF is a Chrome extension that records a tab, window, or region as a GIF, or as an MP4 or WebM clip. No upload, no watermark, and no account required. It is for Chrome 127 or newer.
What Screen To GIF does
Four steps take about a minute: click the toolbar icon, frame the selection, record and stop, then save or open the editor. Trim, crop, and change the speed before export. Pause and resume on the same clip. A countdown can be up to 10 seconds. Recordings are silent in this version.
Who Screen To GIF is for
It is for a bug report or a quick demo, on Windows, macOS, Linux, and ChromeOS. On a Mac the same flow runs inside Chrome. It is an independent Chrome extension and is not affiliated with the ScreenToGif Windows desktop app.
How Screen To GIF works
Capture a tab, a window, or a region. Choose GIF, MP4, or WebM, then set resolution and bitrate. Recording, encoding, and export happen locally. Nothing is uploaded, and recordings up to 24 hours are written to disk. The original recording is never changed. Speed can go up to 4 or down to a tenth.
