# Connect Paperclip to LotsDirectory

Canonical page: https://lots.directory/agents/paperclip
Steps checked: 2026-10-01

Ask Paperclip to list your product on LotsDirectory and keep track of your directory submissions. Add LotsDirectory to Paperclip as a remote MCP server with an API key.

MCP server URL: https://api.lots.directory/mcp
REST API docs: https://api.lots.directory/docs
Setup instructions for your agent: https://lots.directory/skill.md

## What you can do once connected

- Create and update your product listing, upload its images, and publish, schedule or unlist it.
- Get your badge snippet and check that it is live on your website.
- Read the weekly launch board and see where your product stands.
- Find the directories that fit your product, prepare your product packet and record each submission you make.
- Answer the questions visitors ask on your listing.
- Read your listing’s views, clicks and Domain Rating (by Ahrefs).
- Search and read the public listings in the directory.

The LotsDirectory dashboard does the whole job too: your listing, badge, launch week, directory submissions and analytics. Your agent for speed, the dashboard for control.

## You need

- Paperclip with the managed MCP gateway and Tools & Access enabled
- Company administrator access to tools and agent profiles
- A LotsDirectory API key
- A LotsDirectory account. You can create one during sign-in.

## Connect Paperclip to LotsDirectory

1. **Create the LotsDirectory connection.** In your company’s Tools & Access, create a LotsDirectory application and a remote HTTP connection. Use the hosted MCP URL below.

```
https://api.lots.directory/mcp
```

2. **Store the key as a secret.** Create a key at https://www.lotstech.com/api and save it as a Paperclip company secret. Attach a credential reference to the connection: header Authorization, prefix Bearer followed by a space. Keep the key out of plain connection configuration.

3. **Check the connection and load its tools.** Run the connection health check and refresh its tool catalog. Enable the connection, review the discovered tools and approve the actions you want your agent to perform.

4. **Assign access to your agent.** Create a tool profile containing the LotsDirectory tools you need and bind it to the responsible agent. Ask that agent “List my products on LotsDirectory” before giving it real work.

## What to ask next

- “List my product from https://yourproduct.com on LotsDirectory”
- “Show this week’s launches on LotsDirectory and where my product stands”
- “Show me the directories that fit my product best and what each one asks for”
- “I submitted to the first directory on my list. Record it with this note and show my progress”

## Questions and troubleshooting

### How do I connect Paperclip to LotsDirectory?

Follow the Paperclip setup above to add https://api.lots.directory/mcp. Configure your LotsDirectory API key using the credential settings shown. Then ask “List my products on LotsDirectory”.

### Does adding Paperclip’s MCP server also add LotsDirectory?

No. The two servers expose different tools. LotsDirectory must be connected to the agent runtime or called through its REST API.

### Do I need an API key to use LotsDirectory with Paperclip?

Yes. Create one at https://www.lotstech.com/api and keep it out of chats, logs and committed files. Where Paperclip offers sign-in, use that instead.

### What does LotsDirectory cost?

Current plans and prices are on https://lots.directory/pricing. Your agent’s own plan or usage fees are separate.

### Can my agent change other people’s listings?

No. Your agent can search and read public listings, and it can change only the listings your account owns.

### Does my agent submit my product to other directories?

Your agent and the dashboard work through the same directory list and the same records. Your agent reads what each directory asks for, prepares your product packet and records each submission, and you complete the steps a directory asks of its owner.

### Will I see my agent’s changes in my dashboard?

Yes. The dashboard and your agent use the same records, so a listing your agent creates or updates is the one you see in your dashboard.

### My agent cannot see LotsDirectory tools

Check the connection is enabled, its tool catalog is refreshed, the required tools are allowed in a profile and that profile is bound to your agent.
